JC3
jazz group from high school
background
My friends and I formed this group shortly after we began busking in downtown ann arbor. It consisted of guitarist Julian Stockton, drummer Aaron Willette, & bassist Seamus Lynch.
We started busking out of high school boredom and found that people were surprisingly receptive to our extremely average straight-ahead jazz. This resulted in us making a generous amount in tips & starting being asked to play at various events (weddings, bars, restaurants, etc.). We also ended up being the house band for a new bar/restaurant in Saline, Salt Springs, from 2015-2016.

The name, Jefferson Court Trio, was mostly meant to confuse people (but there’s 4 of you!) and get us hired for weddings.
I played piano and managed our gigs, website, and online recordings. All of this is still on our website, which is still up even though we don’t play formally as a group anymore. In hindsight, we were probably significantly undercutting the local prices for jazz musicians, which I feel bad about now. In the moment we were just excited to be making more than $10/hour.
